labcars,
Congratulations on the purchase. A buddy of mine was the guy looking to buy this car but hesitated and backed out for the following reasons:
1) A carfax check revealed that between 2000 and 2004, the mileage of this car went from 5k to 43k miles while being registered with a "RENTAL" car title while in Washington
2) Porsche PPI suggested extra clearcoat and possible paint job? But if you were there while the PPI was done, then I assume the car must have passed PPI. Was this information revealed to you (but you still went ahead with the deal) or did my buddy receive misrepresented information?

Eitherway, you are right as this is going to make a great car for driving and tracking. Hope to see you on the track next summer...

Frank, I can't say if the car was misrepresented to your buddy, but as for me, It was immediately apparent that the car had had some paint work in the front and had a new hood. I was also able to talk to the shop in washington that had worked on the car, as well as the PO in NJ. The car has an aftermarket suspension that is too low and harsh for my liking, so that will get changed. Comp and leakdown were well within limits, so I went ahead and bought it. I don't do well with garage queens, so I bought it as a driver that will see a bit of track time. With proper maintenance and records, I believe that it won't cost me much to own it for however long I do.

Thanks for the heads up though, and yeah, It'll see some track time next summer.

Jasclass

I saw the car at JD's it had some slight damage to the front spoiler, but what concerned me more was the chipping of paint off of the front calipers it seemed odd...

labcars,
Glad to hear that you spoke with the dealers and did the appropriate checks when you got the car. I also did mention to my buddy that no matter the car's history, if it passes PPI and is mechanicallys sound, it would make a great track car. I am a member of NNJR Porsche Club and participate in their DE program. See you on the track next summer and i will keep a look out for a red 993 TT S... :-)

JASCLASS,
Nice collection of cars you have there.

Called JD on the car, they said up front the car had paint work and high mileage, it wasnt of interest after hearing that.

I have a Nikon D70, many 993tt and 356 miles under my belt, and a killer need to drive a CGT. Always willing to drive. Congrats on your new ride. She's a beauty.

Went with a friend and took a look and called the seller and said I was ready to write the check. He came over twenty minutes later and we did the deal. While we were there another prospective buyer from Colorado called wanting the car. Good thing this was relatively close to home so that I could be Jonny on the spot. Drove home my newest toy for $89k!!!!! That's what modest miles will do to values. Bought it as a driver and figure I wont lose anything on it even if I decide to sell it in a few years with 50k miles. Don't have pics, but the ebay lisiting is still up: Item number: 4592811290, if anyone wants to take a look. Now I can drive it like I stole it cause I think I did!!
You certainly bought at a daily driver price. Hope to see it around. I rarely, if ever, saw any 993s in the area during several years of 993TT ownership; most local drivers simply store their cars from what I can tell. I got sick of offering the nice view of my 993 to others brightening up their days for free and went for my ugly 996. Good luck and you better drive it like you stole it i.e. frequently atleast if not fast. The red makes it a bit too attractive but that should not stop or excuse you. Good luck.
Cheers

I didn't think there were 97 TTS's in the US. I thought they were all 98's
