Default K-16 Hybrids or K-24's 90% Street/10% Willow Short Track

This question has probably been asked 100 times, forgive me I'm new.

I'm going to upgrade my HP. I'm settled on the ECU, oil cooler, and intercooler, but I'm torn on the turbos.

This car will be driven on weekends around town, and I plan to do all the POC short track series events at Streets of Willow. Which turbos are you guys happiest with under simular circumstances, K-16 or K 24's?

Thanks,

Craig

Your turbo and ecu need to be matched to each other. Unless you or your supplier really know what they are doing, I would think you'll do better buying into a "system".

By the way, I've never been to the Streets, but I understood more power wasn't that important there.

Greg - Wash your mouth out with gear oil.... More power is always better.... I answered this on the 993 board, but yes the K16 hybrids would be better than the standard K24s (unless got hold of some K24 hybrids and a few other cool things )

Well, of course.
I was just wondering if it was going to get him around the Streets any faster than, say, some suspension work.

First you have to ask yourself what is more important.

Midrange-top end power (K24 hybrid) or low-midrange power (k16 hybrid)
Quicker turbo response (K16 hybrid) or better top end (K24 hybrid).

Do not use the K24's in stock configuration. You must upgrade the compressor (hybrid) to realize there full potental.

If you go the K24 route I can refer you to someone that can upgrade the compressors for you. I can also recommend some really good software.

Nononononono......

Forget the mumbo jumbo, you need real power and I know where you should get it.

This car happeneds to be on sale:

It has a RS-Tuning engine and has almost only been driven on weekends...

Hey, thanks every body for the input. I have decided on Kevin's k-16 hybrid package. Kevin, if you're listenting, please give me a call (714) 812-2665 ASAP.

Greg H...You're right about The Streets of Willow. Tires and good track skills will beat HP there anyday. The track is way too tight to really appreciate any raw hp (but it can't hurt). In 2000, Don Dicker (I think it was Don) ran a 1:14 in a bone stock 993 coup. I held the NS (stock turbo) class POC track record at SOW for over a year at 1:18. I ran some laps in a buddy's 550hp (NI Class) car and only shaved 1 second.

I'm not going to do the Willow big track. I don't want to drill for the roll cage and harnesses...yet.

I really just want the hp for fun, and to scare the $#!* out of my freinds in the local mountains. I'm going to cover the passenger seat in plastic : )
