Default Plastic sheild covering exhaust

I was at a DE a couple of weeks ago, and another driver (993na) said I should remove the plastic sheild in the bottom rear of the car. He said it only adds weight and keeps heat in.

He showed me his car and he had removed it. He thought it made a difference in the performance.

I am concerned that the sheild protects things to much to remove it.

Any expereince with this, or any opinions?

Thanks

Remove it.. The 996TT doesn't have a shield nor 997.. In the summer time I wouldn't run it.. If you drive it in the winter.. You could put it on.. It does trap alot of heat..

Almost everyone on the board has taken these off as all they do is hold heat in, trap sand and
debris, and mask oil leaks so the oil does not hit the garage floor. I used mine as a snow sled
last winter for sliding. It is much easier to clean bottom of engine if off also.
