Simple, immature, stupid question, but has any of you reached 190mph in a 993TT and if so with what modifications?
I've had it on the speedo, that much I can tell, but I need a GPS to really see it.

I had 176mph on the GPS, 300kp/h on the speedo, on the way back from Le Mans this year.
Still had some power left but i was coming up on traffic (rather quickly!!!).
Utterly standard '98 993tt (with slightly leaking intercooler at the time) at about 30 degrees ambient temperature.

Rassel,
There is a huge difference between speedo and digital and real speed.
My stock 408ps did 310kph on digital a couple of times.
With the 430ps ECU I got 314kph on digital once with a (sleeping!) passenger but driving slightly downhill - the rev limiter cut fuel off.
On the speedo you will see the needle pass the 320kph, it is way off.
With the 450ps factory kit and the K24s you should also hit the rev limiter. The high factory tire pressure will help for this immature fun.
With my 0.7 longer 6th gear I had 303kph at around 6200rpm - I am really saving a lot fuel here
I know someone whose 993tt is slightly modified with hybrids and ecu (~470hp?) and he hits the rev limiter even uphill without a problem. He just ordered a very tall 6th gear. (0.69) I am curious what speeds he will see.
And never forget - safety first...

When I picked my car up first time round in Germany with 522PS I hit the limiter in top which is set around 7100rpm which I reckon is probably 200mph. Like you I don't intend doing it again, I enjoy the acceleration up to around 180mph but above that is just for bragging rights and pretty pointless other than to wind up speed limit campaigners in the UK who think you are worse than peadophiles for doing such speeds.

My car goes great to about 250km/h (155mph) which is just after the 5th to 6th change, and then the gearing/aerodynamics start to take over a bit.
No matter, the most fun is to be had doing 2nd and 3rd gear power slides, though you have to be able to see around the corner before hand. New tyres on Monday.

Very Sideways, I agree that second gear power slides are the most fun
(when rear tires get worn)!
question: the porsche manual says top speed 180 mph, but when looking
at the transmission diagram (page 155), it shows that 180mph would be
above 7000 rpm (it goes off top of page??) and I believe stock rev limit
6720 rpm. Can someone explain this and then calculate my cars top
speed with 7000 rpm rev limit (protomotive 560 software)?

I have never done that, but PO of my RUF BTR claimed that when he installed the A-pillar aero-insert and aerodynamic side mirrors, he raised the top speed from 192 MPH to 196 MPH. I assumed he actually drove at those speeds.
I rarely go triple-digits here. The SF Bay Area traffic and patrol conditions seriously deter speed runs.

Are you sure you are looking at the turbo diagram and not the n/a diagram? They are both in the manual. With the diagram you also can get the speed at 7000rpm, should be near 190mph if I remember correctly - sorry manual is in the car.

ROW 993tt gearing works out somewhere around 28.8mph/1000 rpm, so at 6750rpm you should be at approx 194.4mph
I'm assuming this is with new tyres (lots of tread), factory pressures, standard tyre sizes, etc.

According to Flat6.net, and a few other sources, the top speed for an unmodified 993tt is about 180 MPH. I realize that the odometer may not be very accurate at those speeds, but to get up to 190 MPH seems inconsistant with a number of published sources. No?????

I suspect my car would get over 180mph judging by how it got to 176, but i very much doubt it would rev out in 6th on the flat with no wind. I don't think 408bhp is enough to hit the limiter in top. Aerodynamics...
So even though the gearing might be good for 194mph, i doubt my standard car would get over 185mph.
IMHO, of course.
