Default So..what am I really going to pay for a TT??

I'm in the market for a 993 tt.

my history..

Jeep Wrangler, lifted, 33's etc. (I was 17!!)
Hartge 325ix, grey market 4 door (came to my senses)
E30 M3, 20k in mods, (I met Road Atlanta in this car)
996 coupe, slate grey, 10k in mods (ugly, but a great driver when the RMS was whole)
Defender 90 hard top, lifted, tires, etc. (1 too many tickets in the 911, had to slow down)
E55, springs, shocks, sway bars, 19" Brabus wheels (had to pick up the pace, the LR was agonizing on the highway)

and now this. I must find the right TT. In spite of my adoration for them, I feel kind of stupid even considering paying what some folks and dealers are asking.

I want a babied car. something that feels fresh and clean. Not neccesarily mile-free, but very well cared for, and preferably not a track car...thats my job. I can take care of that just fine, thank you. Don't need the help of a previous owner.

Could some of you guys be frank about the actual $ for which these cars are really changing hands?

Oh yea, just in case, no guards, no yellow...

Id say your going to be in the $65-75K range....You might get lucky and find something for less but that is not the norm....

You are describing a car which will normally fetch a premium price. Every once in a while we all get lucky, but you stick with your criteria most of the cars you will be attracted to will be on the high end of the price range. Nothing wrong with paying a little more for a well maintained car.

In the SF Chronicle this week I saw for sale a 96TT with 25k miles Blk/Blk with PSS9. He was asking $69k.

This seems a very good price if everything checks out.

Let me know if you would like me to try and find the phone #

Strato & hal m have it nailed as far as market, your $65-70k cars are mid $70's+ on the retail side and they don't show any signs of backing off in value. I'm rather surprised this is still going on given the 997s are coming out in differing models.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

Really? You just missed Waldo. That seemed exactly what you're looking for.

As a reference point, I bought my super clean '97 Arena Red TT about 2 months ago for $75K from a dealer... after a short bit of haggling. They wanted $80K and had just got it in inventory. It had 34K miles on it, all stock, new brakes and 30K service.

Quit rubbing it in. You got the whole enchilada with Waldo. I'm gonna miss the hell out of that car.

Steve,

I am not trying to rub it in. I am just letting the guy know that there are great cars out there at a great price. You just have to be patient and lucky.

You are rubbing it in. I covet that car. Steve was nice enough to send me details of the car minutes before you bought it. Good work...enjoy it!!

Ignacio,

I'm just kidding... I should have included a smiley face. BTW... time to join Rennlist! The Title should be in Seattle today.
