Cool What are we in for?

With all the new horsepower mongrols coming out lately, does anyone have any war stories on racing any of the new meat? Im curious to see how we do against the new C6 vettes since they will soon be a dime a dozen. Ive raced a C5 Corvette, and smoked him no problem. Ran with a moded Supra Twin Turbo and beat him. N.E.1. else have stories?

I beat a modded twin turbo supra at night (by MPLS/ST PAUL AIRPORT) from a 50 mph roll
with someone in my car and he was alone). Yes, I do know those supra's can fly but I flat
out smoked him! He had greddy stickers on the side, larger exhause pipe, baseball cap
on backwards. He taunted my for about 1 minute before I broke down. Also see my thread
about my buddy's ACR Viper and me. Now I can handily beat him.

I tend to do my fast driving on the track. I have trouble with modified Audi S4s and have had to let many pass. Same with Subie WRX STis. Of course it may be due to the driver

Greg, Don't feel bad. I have only JUST gotten to the point where I can reliably leave Margaret in her Spec Miata held-together-with-duct-tape behind me.

Yasir, the Supra was a mid 90's Supra, i know them very well, when I had my 300zx Twin Turbo, they beat me a lot. I also had 96' C4s, and got smoked on the 105 Fwy , so I decided to buy my black beauty. And like I was saying earlier, a few months ago I spanked the same kind of Supra... young kid of course, pretty cool though I invited him back to a bar that I own, and had a beer, and shared stories, really coool... Thanks for asking about my car, I had to order a new front spoiler from FVD, and it had to come from Germany. I tracked the ups, and it should be here on Tuesday, and should have the car back by week's end next week. Ive been driving my wifes BMW, and man, .... there is just no comparson, it just feels like a slug.

I had an extensive track day with a C5 zo6 with a 427 lingenfelter motor and pro driver. The motor was a special C5R block Sonny Bryant crank etc.etc. It dynoed 550 hp at the crank. It could have made more but they wanted a Calif smog legal motor, and 550 is about it. It had the full monty suspension and Hoosiers and weghed 3200 lbs. My 993tt was still a 3.6 but it had the twin plug conversion and about the same hp and weight. Result, I could put the power down earlier and I could pull him on the straights. Reason, grip and more torque. Ya, more torque. I have similar experiences with Venom 600's. The Supra's with mega hp have so much lag it isn't even a contest.
Their heavy too. 3700lbs.
Porsches still got the power mods if you want to play. See your local tunner. Btw, I can't wait to disapoint the first tracked C6z06. It will be close but I have faith ole blackie (named by ScottM).

Default 360M war story

Out in the canyons near my house I raced a 360M and I wouold say I am not the best or fastest driver but my car. With him the whole way in fact I had to let off a few times as not to hit him. He was pushing hard bottom of car hitting ground at times. I was chasing so it a little easier and I do not know what kind of driving he was...very fun.

Made me happy to have my car. Except for the engine sound at hish hear and down shifts. His car sounded well...worth the extra 100K

marty

PS Straight Line. I would have smoked him.

96 TT with Kevin's Hybrids and ECU, Pss9 and Trg sways. Probably the driver, eh? Of course it's in my best interests to maintain that Audi S4s and Wrx Stis can be made to go VERY fast.

Speaking of Margaret, I remember her passing me coming out of turn 4 at Laguna like I was standing still. That was in my 993 C4S days.

I was at RUF last week in my Z06 and a fellow was in the lot with his GT2, and I made some chatty statement like "Is it fast?". Because at RUF, you never know what you might be looking at.

He looked at my red Z kind of funny, said his GT2 was ungodly fast, and then said the only thing that EVER outran him was a 1000 hp Lingenfelter Twin Turbo Z06. He said it ran away from him like he runs away from anything on the road in his GT2.

Then we chatted about the best way to discard melted Z06 motors... Or, maybe just throw the whole thing away when it grenades. I don't mean to keep on my RUF thing, but it is so cool to go there and everyone is soooooooo into anything motorized. And, of course, chat with the guy who will check out the King of Spain's Porsche if he decides to drive one while here...

I had to throw that line in for Bob. I mean, the King of Spain! I didn't even know Spain had a king!

Looking forward to the C6 Z06 myself, if it is anything like what the mags say, it'd be hard to resist.
