Default 993 tt versus 996 tt...pros and cons? Any comments?

Just trying to figure out the price discrepecies between the 996 and 993 turbos.
In my mind, the 993 looks superior and should have less maintenance issues?
Seems crazy how the 996 prices are dropping while 993 prices are quite high.

GT Porsche Magazine's most recent issue with a 993 Turbo S on the cover has articles on the 993 Turbo and the 993 Turbo S ... part of the Turbo article references the price differential between the 993 and 996 cars with an older 993 based turbo commanding higher prices than a much newer 996 based turbo...at the end of the article given a choice of a 993 based turbo or a 996 based turbo, from his perspective the 993 commanding the higher price was worth it...I think contributing factors to the prices are limited supply of the 993 turbo compared to 996 and the last of the air cooled cars and from my perspective the pinnacle of Porsche craftsmanship and overall build quality...

When I was looking for a TT I drove both. the 996 TT- 996 Tip TT and many 993 TT's.
the 993 FEELS right. To me the 996 felt like a REALLY fast Lincoln town car. Disconnected
numb. The 993 felt like a sports car, smelled liked a sports car and it is a sports car.
they built 1200 total for 96/97(north America- not including the 182 TT-S) and they made more than that for 2001 alone for the 996. The 993 is the last of the air cooled so you got that going for you.
On the other hand with 996's dropping it may be better bang for your buck. I dont think there would
be any maintenence issues either way, they are both based on the same motor. the 996 just has
water jackets on the heads. SO this is what I would do if I were you. Drive em and drive em all!
tips 6 speeds everything. 01's 02's 96's and 97's. Read up for the diffs on the 96 97s and the 01 02's
the 03 and 04 guys still dont think their $hit stinks and are keeping their prices high. the 02 has some standard things that on the 01 were optional. the 97 can be chipped and has a stronger first gear which you can read about on 993tt.com.
Also I think chicks dig 993s more but thats what my wife tells me.
Either one (996 or 993) can be built to holy hell in horsepower 600 with out
getting into the motor and 700 and beyond with intercooler work etc etc.

Is that number - 1200 right for the US market ? Flat 6 Magazine says 1356 in '96 and 1044 in '97 total 2400

TB no I screwed it up its like 1200 96 and ~630 97's and 182 TT-S's
Flat 6 96 # is right but its 97 # is off. I had it from several sources that
97's were well below 1k.
I must have been sipping Anejo last nite, or was it repasado?
