Question What date did 993 TT production start?

I'm about to get a '95 Turbo. My query is did they ever make a 1995 model or were the 1st ones produced in late '95 all 1996 models? Maybe I'm reading my chassis number wrong...the 1st digits are WPOzzz99zT - doesn't the 'T' signify a 1995 year car? or could it still be a 1996 model (I've been told it is).
Bit confused...

993TT's are either 96's or 97's. Common practice to start production in August for the next model year.

Thanks Bill,
So the chassis number 10th digit is purely the production year and not the 'model' year?

Early production 96 TTs were built in early 95, mine has a production date of March and some were even earlier.

Mine is also a 3/95 build date... I think I beat 911/Q45 by a couple of units.

So even though a car is constructed in March '95 it is still a '96 model? Is that right?

It may depend upon the destination... it seems that the European market is generally one model year ahead of the US (they had the 993 in 1994, and the 996 in 1998). So a 3/95 production date headed for Europe may be a 1995 model. Just guessing here.

"S" is 1995 and "T" is 1996. Yes, some "S" Turbo's were made, but they went to Sweden, Switzerland and some Arab Gulf States.

Mine was registered in May '95 but is a TS (1996) model. There were apparently ~70 with the SS (1995) chassis #s which as Viken said seemed to go elsewhere other than UK and US.
What are your last 3 digits, mine is #412
