Default Anyone has 996TT rims on 993TT (pics please)

I am considering switching to 996TT wheels but I am not sure if this is what I want to do. What will really help me is if you have 996TT on your 993TT, can you post some pics.....

TIA

Tony - Here are a couple of early photos of my car with the 996TT wheels. I really like the way they compliment the car with a hard angle on the spokes. I know that John Gordon just got a set for his 993TT and his car is Polar Silver. The car looks great with them. I also know a number of other folks that bought these wheels and love them. The cool thing is that these wheels are plentiful and relatively inexpensive in almost perfect condition as they came on SOOOO many 996TTs. Be careful if you are looking for a set to get the hollow spokes.... Good luck

VP, Thanks for the pics. What size rubbers were on the car in the pics? Thanks.

I run Michelin Pilot Sports with 235/315. No rub issues at all....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Meister Viper Bob just rang my bell. I want some 315's. Phat butt heaven... I've got 2004 996TT wheels (the good Doctor had chrome shoes on it). Johnathan took a pic of my car at RUF on Saturday let's see if he will stick it up here for us...

VB,

This might be a stupid question but does running 315s will effect performance... extra weight, etc.? That's what I want with 996TT rims.... 315s. Thanks

Default Same Color CAR.

Here's some pics of the same color car. I like my hollow spokes, can't believe the difference in weight savings.

2 ignorant questions:
1- beyond looks, whats the real difference between 993TT and 996TT wheels?
2- beyond looks, are 3 piece deep dish wheels with bolts (ie. gemballa competition or roock) better wheels than the TT twisty wheels?

Rob,

I don't have an answer because I am far from knowing much about this topic. However for me I am looking towards 996TT wheels because

1. I like the looks on 993TT (eventhough the 993TT wheels are very nice as well)
2. I like the fact that I will keep the weight down.
3. I want to be able to go wider in the rear like 295s or 315s ( this is the real reason for me to have 11" in the rear.)

The downside to me is that its another OEM wheels, different looks than deepdish wheels out there. But the price between these (996TT & aftermarket deep dish wheels) are fairly significant in my book.

Steve,

Thanks for the pic... I really think the 996TT gives the 993TT an updated look, just MHO.

Thanks everyone.
