sell my turbo adn get a GT3??
Well I just turned 42 today.......wowwee....! Anyway, after spending over 30k to get my 97 turbo "almost" the way I want......... I'm thinking about jumping ship. Do you think its a good idea, would I enjoy the gt3 better?? I guess I should find someone who has one and traade back and forth. I'm just bored and am wondering wich one is more fun on the street. I have all the "right" mods on my car. Do you think I might be "stepping down" in away?? Every ones insight will be appreciated!!

We have had several folks make this change out here in Cali. You can speak with Joe Ramos who is the most recent leaper.
I would think that on the street, the TT is the way to go. With the right mods, you can't get much faster or bader. If you were a track junkie, the GT3 might be more fun, since the handling should be better around the turns and throttle response more immediate as NO turbo lag.
I think lots of people have thought about this since the GT3 is so awesome, but for me, as I only track occasionally, I am sticking with my TT.

You are crazy! For the street, the 993TT is probably going to be more fun because of the torque. The GT3 needs to be wound up and kept up.
Remember, the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side. Plus, you will only get pennies on the dollar for your $30K in mods.

I've driven both on the street and the track. GT3 is faster on the track, especially on a twistier course where the power differential isn't much of an advantage. 993tt is a better street car, much more supple ride, especially on a road trip where the expansion joints on the freeway will drive you insane in the GT3.

Thanks for the input! I initially modded the car because I was gonna track it,but I never have the time! I have GT2 body work.PSS9's,K24's sway bars, race cats ,rsr oil cooler,ect,ect,ect...... right about 520HP. I have my suspension set at 4 position and man, that seems stiff on the road! Is the gt3 that much more?? Also are you guys saying (in capable hands) that our turbo's will out run the gt3's on tracks like watkins glen?? One other question, how do you post pics here?? Was something changed? I use to be able to do it......

JJayB: is this jim brady? well, in your hands and your STOCK TT, yes it will eat GT3's alive ;-) i rode with ya at WS last year in the tracquest event.
GT3 isn't necessarily stuffer, but the way it rebounds off rough pavement is very uncomfortable. i only like to drive my on the track now.

Yes it is I. I've driven over a dozen 993tt in various tune and suspension mods. Anyone who says a 993tt doesn't handle twisties, hasn't riden in a well set up 993tt. The gt3 is a sweet piece for the track, but in true German tradition gains its grip with brutal shock valving which ruins its for street.
I know of several 993tt with only M030 and R tires that run low 1:33s at Willow which would IMHO be slightly quicker than a stock gt3 on R tires given the same calibre driver. In my track encounters, the torque coming out of the corners gives the turbo a slight edge. That advantage may disappear in a 30 minute session due to the lighter weight of the gt3.

Hmmmmmmmm, but Jim, that is with you...
driving. Jim writes, "with minor mods to the 993tt will outpace the GT3."
Having been a passenger and a driver a few times of the 993TT, this car is so incredible on the street and track. Very comfortable on the street, very, very fast on the track...almost too fast for me...150 mph + on the front straight at Willow Springs, oh lawdy!

Why would anyone want to do all the mods if it's never been on the track? A standard euro spec TT is very capable on the track in the right hands.
Adjust the nut behind the wheel first, the car's second.

"why would anyone want to do all the mods if it's never been on the track?" well, first off I am "not" you, secondly I planned to track it,and thirdly I wanted something extreme!! Imagine that! Anyway, isnt it just like life? Planning for one thing then something else happens??
