Default What about car covers?

Anyone have any thoughts about car covers? No room at the inn for my 97 TT. My car is arctic silver. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks. Pete

I love my cotton, flannel-lined car cover. I hate my synthetic crap car cover that feels like cardboard.

Technalon is tough to beat for outdoor use, keeps the sun off and protects against dings. No reason to cover in the weak sun seasons.

I would be vary careful of using a car cover if the car will be left outside for long periods of time. There are types that breathe (which means not 100% waterproof) and soak the water, and the cycle of wet-drying on the car-wet again is not good for the paint, but rather for indoor garages. There is also the waterproof type which repells water but is stiff and hard to manage. And if it traps moisture, then it will stay there for a good long time.
In any case, and assuming you are protective of the condition of the finish of the car, just be aware that it is really not a good thing to cover a dirty car up. The process of slipping on the cover takes the dust and scratches it against the paint - sandpaper style! OUCH. So please please make sure the car is dust free when you slide that thing on. In all honesty, its probably best to leave uncovered outside, assuming the car is protected with a nice wax coat a couple of times a year, rather than covering it up - unless the sun is scortching!
Good luck shopping.

FWIW, I got an interior one from Gert Carnewal.

Custom made for my car with mirror pockets and proper tailoring for the front splitters and the big rear spoiler.

Euros 195. Very pleased

Monique , that is a very interesting price, so would it fit the GT2 tail you think?
