Default 996 seat fit in 993?

Plug and play or is a modification bracket/rail available?

I know that for fitting my GT3 seats, I needed to have different brackets. Height being the culprit. There are many vendors who can provide them to you.

I've written about this a few times; 996 seats will bolt directly into a 993 with no fuss, no muss. There is no bolt hole misalignment. I installed GT3 seats out of a 996/986 into my car and had *no* problems bolting it right in. The stock 996 sliders put the seats higher than I preferred, so I bought the Brey-Krause side panels which helped bring me down to the right height. I know this information is contrary to early reports on 996 seat fitment into a 993, but, much to my surprise, these seats went in easily and mated up with the 993 bolt holes.

So, the 996 seats don't "require" the B-K panels, but, as Jean said, they will help with height issues.

Click this link to read about my experience dropping the GT3 seats into my 993.

There should be no issue putting a stock 996 seat into a 993, except for the wiring connector. I think these changed from 993 to 996.

Good luck.

One phone call to B-K would take care of that question for certain.

i called b-k several times... they have no answer on the topic and have not considered it.
i told them that many pre996 owners would care about this, so they are looking into it.

Unless I am reading your question incorrectly the answer is "no". The brackets which I think you are referring to bolt to the sides of the GT3 seat shell and replace the stock Recaro side brackets (it has lower mounting holes so the shells are bolted on lower on the bracket)...these then bolt to the sliders or are mounted directly to the floor. Or are you referring to different brackets?

There are two fitment issues I think: (1) the fit and width of the mounting brackets; and (2) the fit and width of the seats (the seating area and the shoulders). If you look at pics of 993 interiors (incl mine which I have previously posted) you will see that clearance around the shoulder area is on the tight side.

Dave- the physical size of the 996 seats are no bigger than 993 seats. It is all about the installation on the rails and power.

Tom - i am interested in discussing your seats, but need to know that it will work as i dont want to buy them and have them not fit properly. I have yet to find someone that put electric 996 seats into a 993 and have the height and movement be correct - nor have a seen a bracket adaptor for the power seats. Otherwise, im delighted to discuss your seats, especially as you are local.
