Adding power steering fluid?
I need to know how to add power steering fluid to the reservoir. Is it in the back or front? How do I find it? Is there a "dipstick" to let me know when its full? We use Pentosin (sp?) right? Does that stuff have a distict odor? Does this reservoir serve the brakes and clutch accumulator also? How does this work?
Lots of questions for a doofus... take it easy on me.
Happy New Year one and all.

It's a small rectangular tank near the oil filler in the back. You must use Pentosin, which is only available at the dealer as far as I know. I don't know about the odor, but it's greenish in color. The cap has a dipstick built into it. The car should be warmed up, then shut off and the clutch depressurized by pumping the pedal until it's difficult to operate. Then unscrew the cap, wipe the dipstick and screw the cap back in. Remove it again to read the dipstick and add fluid with a funnel if necessary. It's quite the nuisance. Make sure you don't unhook the rubber vent plug from the top or you'll lose fluid during spirited driving. This reservoir serves the power steering and power side of the clutch slave cylinder, there is a rat's nest of lines running the fluid all over the area.

Thanks Don, I was able to locate the filler cap. I'll get some Pentosin and a funnel and keep her topped off. BTW, I did the new headlight lenses (well, I got some experienced help), and it sure looks better. Have a happy new year.

Yes, and pretty much as you called it, the horn was disconnected. However... it looks as though the wires had been snipped, rather than the connector taken off. I'll have to take off the inner fender liner (which could use replacing anyway) to get it hooked up properly. Yeah... sure I will.

My wires were snipped also, I just crimped on a new connector and plugged it in. It seems like you could do that through the headlight hole, but I can't swear to it as I did mine from the inner fender side.

ok, I'm confused (what else is new). I need to check the PS fluid so I RTFM which said (and I paraphrase) check the dipstick while the car is idling and top up using Dextron II. I know the reservoir is tucked back under there - can I get at it by just removing the intercooler shroud or does the IC have to come off and if the IC is off, can you/should you still run (at idle) the car to check? and which fluid to use - Pentosin or Dextron II and why

You can do it without removing anything, just use a long funnel. Use Pentosin only and do not check it at idle, check it warm and off after pumping the clutch until it gets tough. You probably read the manual for the regular 993.

The manual doesn't say the car has to be warm. Just curious as my clutch is heavy when I first start the car. As a matter of fact, the light on the dash for clutch pressure is always on when I start the car and then goes off after the clutch gets light, less then a minute.

Cesar,
Wow... you resurrected a two-year-old thread. Heavy clutch until the car is started? You need a new clutch accumulator. About $90.
