Alright i know im not from this part of the forum but when i was at work. I work at a freight forwarder and brokerage firm in Buffalo, ny and, my boss who knows i love porsches told me there was a 98 porsche which had to be cleared for the US and it was 1 out of 25 in the world, I was wondering if maybe someone on this site was getting it imported i would like to know more about it. He wasnt sure of the model but im guess maybe gt1 if they made it in that year?

i dont know but the invoice for shipping is valued at 750,000, oh and it is being cleared through my work and it originally came from germany so it is probably not a US spec car.

There was info a while back about a 959 making it to your shores. Was being modded to pass MOT.... this may be it.

AFAIK, it was in TX someplace.

A 993 GT2 "Evo" wouldn't go for 750k neither would a 959 Turbo.
The only car I can think of that would qualify for street use with a pricetag such as mentioned is the 962 or the 993 GT1.

i think $750k is alot for a real gt2.. you can get them in europe for about 175-200k and then perhaps 50-75k to modify and bring it over.. i looked into this .. in the end, i did not happen, but i was doable if you open your wallet.

i assume it is a gt1 - or perhaps it is a car that porsche raced in lemans and won and has some historic value in addition.

The car was likely the road going version of the '98 GT1, which sells for between $500k and $1mil.

Thanks for all this information i was pretty sure there was a 98 gt1. Someday i will own a 993 i love the style of those cars, perhaps when i get out of college with my engineering degree i can make enough to buy one When i find out more about the car i will keep you guys informed i thought maybe the new HAPPY owner might be on this board and maybe i could see it in person, he did say money was no object to get in cleared from customs.
