Thats a tough one.....retail they are priced all over the place. I have no verification, however I do recall seeing someone here talking about buying around $100k +/-.

IMO if you can get for less than 100k, you have a good deal, not that I would do it though.

Justin,

Under 10k miles, I think sellers will ask $110k+. What they will actually sell for will depend on circumstances. In 2002/2003, I test-drove one with 28k miles, and they were asking $109k firm. Did not pull the trigger and bought the RUF instead. Cannot be happier with that decision.

Did you find one?

I spoke to a dealer about a Speed Yellow with 7000 miles- sell price was 105. It sold soon thereafter. So it sounds like the 100 range is a fair price.

Justin,

There are currently two 97 Turbo Ss listed on autotrader. One has 5,100 miles with an asking price of $115k and the second one has 3,500 miles with an asking price of $128k. There is also a private collector/seller on the east coast who also have several Turbo Ss with ~ 10-15k miles with asking price ranging from $114k to $125k.

Thank you all for your input, I was thinking approx $100k looks like the current value and that seems to be the feeling here as well.

Tony,

'Private collector/seller on the east coast'....Would that be Sloan by any chance?

Tony,

Do a search on threads started by Old Guy (Paul) and you will find some very interesting facts about Sloan Cars.

CP,

Its a good thing that Mr. Sloan never called me back when I was in the market... err actually he did called and said that the car was sold but it was still on his website for the next month.

So much for the "investment" value of the low-mileage 993TS. Great cars for driving, but pretty lousy as a place to make your money work for you. Even if you only garnered 5% / year interest, your original $150K would now be worth $211K. At 10%, it would be up to about $300K.

Having said that, it does seems that there are a few two-seater Ferraris that you can buy (if you have a very early spot in line), drive for a few months, and sell for a profit. Pretty nifty arrangement.

JASCLASS,

Try this thread, or threads by Old Guy around that time frame.

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turbo-forum/90468-its-the-clutch.html

Basically, Paul bought his 993tt from Richard Sloan. Sloan did PPI and all. But clutch failed within 5 days. Then Paul found out more about Sloans business practice as he was delayed a bit receiving title etc.

Bottom line, apparantly Sloan is NOT a collector as his site suggests. A number of the cars he adverstised in his 'collection' are consignmnet items, etc.

I have never dealt with him, but did check out his site extensively when I was shopping for my car (993, 993tt, 993tts etc.). Since then, I have read other posts here about Richard's business MO. If you deal with him, please be dilligent.
