Default Question about wheel size and offset

Guys, I am considering purchasing a new set of BBS LMs for my 1996 993TT. They offer two different sizes for the front, 18x8.5 and 18x9. Will the 18x9 fit on the front with stock suspension or will I have to upgrade to PSS9 or something similar? I do plan on upgrading the suspension at some point. Right now though I plan on upgrading the wheels since I need new tires for the car. Thanks for the help.

Seth,

Stock sizes are 18X8 Et 52. The 9" should fit on your car without suspension modifications, for the same ET, you need about 1/2 inch of additional clearance on your current setup on the inside (check suspension clearance and brake/oil lines). You might need to dial some more camber in the front to avoid rolling your fenders. I would go however with 8.5 to be on the safe side, which will let you use 245s in the front. It depends what is your objective.

Default LM's

I've got a set of gold LM's 18x8.5 and 18x10.5 or 11? in perfect condition, I'll sell them to you cheap. They came off my 97 right after I got it. The PO had just put them on. PM me if you want.

I think the 9" fronts would be Ok, but I wouldn't recommend throwing on 245's like Jean said.

Edrewitz

May I ask why you would not recommend 245s? Is it because they will rub?
Thanks

The 8.5 has an offset of 56 mm and will fit. But, what offset does the 9" have? I can't even find it in the size table. Whether or not it fits, will depend on the offset.

As to the 245, there should be no problem using it provided the wheel sizes are proper and a reasonable front to rear balance is kept. What rear wheel and tire size are you planning to use?

Jean, I was echoing your comments that the 245's may not fit on the front with 9" wheels because they may rub. I dont really know though, just depends on the wheel offset and the car. May work on some not others? I had 235's w/ 9" wheels on the front of my 930 and it rubbed on wheel lock.
