Anyone knows if it would work in Europe?

Have a look at the V1 specs.

To be certain you need to find out what frequencies are used in the countries you're thinking of using it in.

It appears stationary speed cameras have a very narrow beam that is hard to detect and a V1 is not very useful here. If you find any other info I"d love to hear.

And in the UK most are forward facing so you're counting on a reflection of a low power beam. Doesn't do the odds much good!

Do they place mobile speedcameras in the U.K?

Some people here, solved the problem by setting the positions of the speedcameras in their GPS units.

There are a lot of fixed speed camera systems in the UK. Most use radar aimed at the rear of a passing car/motorsycle, some use current loops in the road and some use a system where your license plate is read at two fixed points and the time between reading is used to calculate the speed.

Obviously only the first type can be detected by a V1. There are systems available that use a database and a GPS to warn you when you're near any fixed site.

There are also mobile radar based systems; a V1 would detect those best as they tend to be aimed at approaching vehicles.

And then there are hand-held or tripod mounted lasar guns, some with built-in cameras.

For more info on what's used in the UK see this website.
