IMHO, 19's look good on a 996 and 18's look good on a 993. From my experience with both, there really will not be a whole lot of difference in ride quality, however, performance (turn in) will suffer.

i have switched b/w tt 18's and the ruf 19's and felt no ride difference on the street.
the 19's have a different finish that is almost pearlescent looking , and the larger wheels just looks better to me.
both the ruf 18's and 19's are nice, but if you are going to the trouble of changing, why not get a complete second set of wheels and tires and keep the originals for/if when you sell the car

Don't want to spend another grand or whatever the cost for new tires for the 19" wheels. Don't really need a second set anyway. If I save the wheels, and I might, they will take up less room in the garage. The wife will be happier that way.
