Default Anything unusual about TT/"S" wheels?

Hi guys!

Not my usual neck-o-the woods, but I have a question...

One of my buddies has a 993 TT "S" model (wanna say it's a MY94, but I lost the piece of paper. Yellow calipers but pre-PCCB if that helps) and is kinda looking for a new rear wheel (Turbo Twist).

(He's a *skosh* on the **** side, and my understanding is the TT "S" model is a rarer car so he'd like it 'perfect'...)

Are these somehow different (finish, machining, offset, etc) than the other turbo twist wheels? IIRC, they are hollow, aren't the Turbo Twist wheels from the 'standard' turbo hollow as well?

Thanks,

Greg

They are the same wheel as the turbo, and, yes, they are hollow spoked.

They are the same hollow-spoke turbo twist, but have a different finish than the std TT wheel, more like a dull chrome than the std paint/powder coat finish. The replacement TTS rims are available from a Porsche dealer...but cost and arm and a leg.

I kinda thought the finish was a *bit* different (looks neat, the car is silver), but I wasn't sure.

I'm sure the dealer will be painful, I was wondering if there was a difference, because my friend got a quote from a "pre-owned" alloys vendor - and it semed to be really high, even for a hollow-spoke.

Thanks again,

Greg

It is a polished finish and the year should be a 1998 model.

The finish is a bright silver gloss paint. Similar to the wheels on the 964 Turbo 3.6 and 3.6 S, the 996 Millennium Carrera 4 and the 996 40th Anniversary Carrera. The 993 Turbo S was produced for model year 1997 in North America and 1998 for the rest of the world.

Viken et.al.,

I checked with him, it is in fact, a 97MY. He was mentioning something about this model being available in 94MY also, hence my confusion. Also, between he and his brother, they have 3 TT's, and just when I kinda learn some of the minutae - they get rid of it and buy another.

If you know private owners who have an extra rear wheel of that ilk that is *perfect*, PM me. We'll talk.

Appreciate the help gents.

There was a 964 Turbo S as well, another 'runout special', but a bloody nice one !

Cheers, Maurice
