Default Run Engine without Turbo's installed

I have had both turbo's refurbished, added check valves and replaced some pipes. Before installing the new Turbos i was hoping to remove as much Oil as possible from the car,

Can i safely run the engine without the turbo's installed? Ideally I would run the car up to temp to open the oil thermostat, flush the oil, repeat, fill with Oil and install the new Turbo's, Cat, Exhaust, etc - following the sticky post procedure.

The oil i was able to drain was black. The car has 125k miles and had sat for a number of years previously.

I would just use Kevin's procedure and "Pull the fuse for the fuel pump #26"
