Paul,

It's funny how sometimes we forget that 64,000 dollars is a lot of money. Then consider it is for an 8 year old car that the current owner does not take eough pride in to put on new rotors and pads and possibly a new clutch, before he sells it. So I wonder is the sellers position that 64 is such a deal for a 96 993 TT that he can tell the buyer "you give me 64 and you go fix the brakes"?

Then consider Porsche is offering dealer incentives up to 10K on their 40th anniv. 996 with 345 HP and upgraded handling. Some of these cars are selling for 75 or less brand new. So for 11 more Rob can buy a better handling car covered by a full warranty with a little less HP. Or for another 10K I feel Rob can find a nice 97 or a perfect low mile 96.
Unforunately for Rob he is determined to find a silver 993 with black interior which limits his options somewhat.

Les Sorry I missed you in vegas last month.
there will be another time though I bought a place
there so we will be back.

I agree with you 100% I would tell him I will keep my
64K and you can have your old rotors. To me color doesnt
matter too much I just wanted the best TT for my money.

Rob I know its hard to be patient but this guy is not a good
guy if he is selling a car that needs work and expects the buyer
to fix it. Thats just not cool at all. tell him to fix it and hes got a
deal or you walk. TT's are beautiful in any color!!

Paul,
I responded to your private email tuesday evening. It must not have made it, because it is now gone from my box.
Congratulations on your new place in lost wages.
Let me know when you get to town I have added some neat musclecars to the collection.

In regard to the CGT they are pressuring me for my 50 K deposit. I used my old deposit to pay for the 04 GT2 . I am stalling to try to see what a real CGT looks and sounds like before I commit. I am leaning to just buying a Ford GT which has 550 HP does 205 and is 300 grand cheaper. They want me to pay them by Friday or else. I am not not sure what "or else" means. But the car won't be delivered until 2006 so I am trying to find out what the big rush is.

Les i have followed your internal debate if not from the beginning
at least for a long time. You have made a lot of valid points. I am
glad you are sticking to your guns. BTW I would like if you dont mind
one day to get a ride in your GT2. I would like to see how fast it
is compared to my modified TT. I drove a GTS Viper the other day
and it was not near as quick as my TT.
The place at Fairfield was a whim but Vegas is a neat town to
visit every once in awhile, plus we have more and more friends
moving there all the time.
AND I would love to see your stable and the new additions
my camera awaits!!

You'd be doing real well to find a Ford GT for under $200k. If you want American, consider a 500 hp Viper and throw forced induction on it (a mild supercharger for the earlier Vipers adds 170 hp). With the leftover money get a nice AMG or M5 daily driver.

Well, yeah, a stock Viper doesn't compare well to a modified TT. It's every bit the equal of a stock TT.

A supercharger worth 170 hp for the Viper costs 8 grand.

Rent-a-Vette on Paradise Road rents Vipers, btw.

Pig4Bill,
I am a huge Viper fan since I own three already. It's an American built, hand built modern muscle car and after racing Vipers in Viper days from my experience a stock viper turns lower lap times than both a stock 993 turbo and 996 turbo. And that was with a pre 2003 viper with the extra HP and vastly improved brakes. I have tried to buy an 03 SRT viper and an 04. In 03 I got derailed by the valve recall issue and for 04 stayed away due to the cam bolt issue. Another reason I am waiting on the CGT is because Dodge is hinting that they are going to release a new GTS street coupe at VOI in texas this September with close to 600 HP to compete with the Ford GT.
And I agree with a Roe supercharger on any viper it is a killer combo.

Bottom line is that it looks like both Ford and Dodge will have cars that compare in performance to the CGT for far less money, albeit with some definite loss in quality.
