Default K16/24 Hybrid Turbos

Anyone looking for a set? Sorry for the selfish plug, just wanted to see if anyone is looking for them.

Any particular reason you went with brand new turbos for the conversion? Not being nosey, just a turbo newbie question.

Not nosey. I just wanted to make sure I ended up with the best possible solution and didn't want to take any shortcuts.

How do you plum up the double vacuum Actuators.

My car only has a single pipe?

What are the benefits of this system over the standard single pipe?

Thanks for the info

Good look on the sale.

I can understand that. It would be pretty discouraging to replace the turbos and then replace the turbos again...

Dual port actuators is just another approach to boost control. If you don't want to use the dual port method all you do is plug the bottom port and hook up to the top as you normally do!

I am using an electronic boost controller that can accomodate either traditional or dual port methods. Basicaly with dual port you put the pressure signal from the turbo to the bottom side of the diaphram which holds the WG shut better. Then the EBC manages the both the pressure on both the upper and bottom ports to actuate the WG.

Like I said, if you don't want to go that route just plug it, no need to remove the turbos.

With the amount of emails I am getting with regards to these turbo's, it must be noted that these units are set up for the 996TT. Mark can read you the ID tags, but if you notice from the picture the ID tags are mounted on the compressor housing like the 996TT and not on the backplate. The turbine housings are different. They will not bolt up to the headers. This can be fixed by swapping for your old housings..

Check 2 things Mark, read the name plate, and then take a picture of the turbine housing showing the turbine wheel.

Mark what you have is 996TT and 993TT crossbreed.. Which is good for a 993 TT owner. The turbine housing is later style casting, but it is correct. However the compressor housing, bearing housing, turbine wheel, is all late generation 996TT. For the purist it's not correct, for someone that wants all the updated components and doesn't mind the 996TT updates, plus the GT1 mod (which I didn't do or build), go ahead and get them..

Kevin, Why you don´t use the updates from the 996 into the 993 turbos? Any specific reason?

Corte;

Because when I do the conversions, I upgrade the internals where needed. Updated doesn't always mean stronger, I need stronger/tighter components. I CNC my own backplates and make parts to beef up all the turbo's that I build.. I don't have failures in my designs and turbo's.. When I do the 996TT, those units get upgraded to the same higher/stronger standard.

Does anyone know if these will bolt in? Or will there be custom pipe work needed?
