Default Techron replacement for 100 Octane Union '76

I've been adding five gallons of 100 octane when filling up at Union '76 here in So. Ca. to make up for the usual 91 octane pump gas. I like the results.

However, for years I've been using Standard Oil gasoline with Techron and have never had a carbon build-up problem in any 911 I've owned. Two for fairly high milage. I do use Ventil Sauber before oil changes. Is this sufficient?

Input appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

Techron is supposed to work well for keeping things clean, but it ain't no substitute for the proper (94+) octane that our cars are supposed to use. We can use 91 octane, and our cars don't operate with their full power, but otherwise run just fine.

I'm still hunting for some 100 octane fuel.

Hi Steve,

Were you unable to locate a '76 station through Union's web site that carries the "racing gas?" They are few and far between, but I did find one five miles from my office.

Regards,

Bill

Oh yea, I forgot, Marty. You are having Kevin rebuild those stock turbos for the same reason you installed the bypass pipes. IMPROVED GAS MILAGE! We are of like minds in many ways as that's the same reason I use the racing gas.

Soon it will be cheaper to fill up with 100 than 91. The station by me is still selling it for $4.50 and 91 is going for $2.51..

Hi Guys,

Just for you information, fuel in the UK is as follows:

Standard Premium Unleaded is 95 Octane costs £3.68 per gallon (US $6.80)

Standard Super Unleaded is 97 Octane, costs £3.81 per gallon (US $7.05)

SHELL Optimax Unleaded is 98 Octane, costs £3.90 per gallon (US $7.23)

95 Octane is the lowest available, although you are limited to some rather low octane levels the prices are certainly cheap compared to here.

I only put Shell Optimax in which is available nationwide at every shell station. Do they not sell it over in the US?

$2.51 for a gallon.... thats £1.35 I WISH.....

Jim,

The US uses a different octane rating system than the UK (Research + Mechanical / 2). So our ratings always seem lower.

Doh.

I didn't know that.

Is there no way to compare?
