Question Short Shift for 993TT

I am looking into changing the gear shifter in my car, so far all the sources told me that there is one made for 993 but not TT. Can anyone provide some information on this subject. Thank you.

Yes, there is one for the 993 TT. You can get it from www.schatzmotorsports.com

Installation requires you to "teardrop" the transmission tunnel cover. There is more info in the archives.

It's pretty easy, took about 2-3 hours, which included repainting the tunnel cover to look all purdy again.

Here are some archive links:

Jeff,

I have the RS/FVD shifter (Michael Schatz installed it for me, as I am a world-famous doofus). Don't expect miracles... it shortens the throw about 20%. This means that instead of feeling like you're moving a stick in a 5 gallon bucket of paint, it feel more like a 4.5 gallon bucket of paint. Of course, I'm spoiled by the aftermarket short-shifter in my Cobra. Still and all, a worthwhile mod, just not a miracle.

I spoke with FVD about a month ago and they were not getting/making any more short shifters for the TT at the time.

I'm curious to hear from the FVD guys about this.

This is correct, we no longer sell a short shift for teh C4S or Turbo. The reason I was told was we had too many quality and fitment issues. We still have for the narrow body, but no longer carry the other unit...

TB993TT
Mind you 540BHp Stage 3 from EVOMS. Not tested on Dyno, Yet! What other modifications did you have in mind. Please tell me more.

I would say the TB993TT (hope I do not put words in your mouth) would be skeptical of a true 540BHP. With K24s and all the rest, my guess would be 476-490HP. The B&B cost you HP and $$$$$s. Minor smoothing of the factory exhaust near the exhaust flanges and the internal tubes is about as good as you can get..

To be honest, when I posted last night, I didn't see the K-24s in your sig ! did you just add that ?
As Bob says 490 max if your turbos are the K-24s as fitted to the Euro 450PS kit. bigger turbos and cams are needed to go north of this. BTW 490hp is a fast 993tt

You are probably both right about the 490-hp max. When I get the car on Dyno I will post the at wheel hp rate. The turbos are GT2 K-24s, I did not wanted to go with larger Turbos because of the increased turbo lag, which can be adjusted to some degree with the ECU.
I also agree with some loss of hp keeping the B&B headers, but I liked the heat exchanger concept to help the Turbos, and I have compensated for hp loss with the Fabspeed Muffler bybass.
Thanks for your comments.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds like you have a good setup. You nay want to consider some hybrid K24s in the future. I am having this done right now and will be going to the dyno ASAP. My theory, and it is only a theory until I prove it on the dyno, is that at 1.2 BAR with the mods I am having done I will be putting out 650-675HP at the flywheel. We will see how close I get. My previous HP was over 500, but at 4800 RPM and then not much more. The K24s can only push so much air unless they are modified so I was running into a wall. Well the wall is coming down...... My hope is that I will be able to achieve a little over 600HP at around 1.0-1.1 BAR. I have a stock short block, so going too much over 600 on the track may be a BIG issue that I do not want to face at the moment.

Bob,

Have you changed your rods or just had them shotpeened/reinforced? Do you expect the Hybrids to give you the incremental 100hp and will you be putting the car on the dyno before and after the turbo change at the same boost levels and engine configuration?
Reason I am asking is because I have the same hp objective in mind and about to start the work on the engine.
Do you have all your mods posted on some other thread? It would be very helpful.
Thank You.

Bob,

Please let me know how it works out for you with the hybirds, it sound like you might have to invest in new seat-belts. That is going to be one fast TT.

Chris.
