Turbo S - What's this all about the S?!

Could someone explain why paying soo much to get the S model?
Seems to me that people are looking for good investments and garage queens..
But is there actually anything else that makes it explainable?
Can't really be that much of a difference between a Turbo S and a factory tuned 450hp Turbo. Some people mention weight, well I aint a superdriver so I can feel the difference between 50kg and have use of it on the track.
I mean:
Hey, Schumi would probably beat me easily in a C4 compared to me in a TT and we both where to race on the ring. So I think my cash goes on the track lessons....

The Turbo S is collectible because there were only 182 made and these were the very last air-cooled turbos ever produced. One will pay a premium for a piece of Porsche history. FYI Porsche premium-priced the last 50 (it might have been the last 100, I don't remember) back in 1979 as it was thought those would be the very last turbos ever sold. The difference between 1979 and 1997/98 Turbo S is that the 1997/98 Turbo S is, in fact, the last production run of the air-cooled turbo - ever.
As to the performance / cosmetic upgrades - most can purchase a stock 993tt and use the premium dollars that would have been paid for the Turbo S for better performance upgrades (to and above 500 hp).
FYI - I went through this myself. I had an '89 930 3.4 and a '97 993tt. I could have traded both for a Turbo S. The deal I had working was very compelling. I was very much interested in owning a piece of Porsche history. In the end, however, I felt paying the premium for the S was more than I was willing to pay at the time. I sold the '89, kept the '97, and have been very happy with that decision.

Is there any reason of spending such a large amount of money on the TTS compared the TT, if you don't count in for that you're getting one of the last Air-Cooled Turbos from Porsche?
Lets say you're a Porsche fan because of the Performance...?

IMO, the only reason to pay a premium for a Turbo S is because I felt it was worth the $$$ to own 1 of the last 182 air-cooled turbos.
Clearly, if it was only performance I wanted, I would buy a stock 993tt and buy my own performance mods.
Ultimately, I didn't think owning a Turbo S was worth the price of my '89 930 3.4 so I passed on owning such an exclusive piece of history. Mind you, I still own a piece of Porsche history because the '97 993tt is the last FULL production model year for the air-cooled turbo.
