993TT in today (2/28) L.A. Times
There are two of them:
This one we've seen advertised here before:
96 993 Turbo, Speed yellow/black, 41K mi, Perfect. $69K. $10K in upgrades. (kdshark) (805)428-3206 pp
This one is new to me:
96 993 Turbo, blk/blk 18k, full carbon fiber pkg, CD changed $79K (4epf083) Pp (818)468-1100.
My offer to throw an unbiased (but untrained) eyeball on these cars for an out-of-town Rennlister still stands. Contact me at ca993twin@yahoo.com

Jim,
Great! I was following with interest your tale of woe, and then the turn-around in your fortune. This car sounds really nice. Can you give us any details of the $10k in mods? What was the final selling price? I ask because there are lots of guys following the 993TT market, and each piece of data is very valuable.
Best luck, and I hope to see you and this car someday.

Steve:
The $10K is mods is really more like $5K, and that's at installed price. However, the car is very clean and not abused. That was important to me in deciding value. There were some other '96's with less miles, but not SY and not so clean. The only real downside to this car was the damned color matched wheels. I guess it is to each his own, but to me, it gives the car a major case of the ugs!!! Pricewise, I would rather wait until I have the car in hand before I release the details of my exact deal. I jinxed myself once already, I would need therapy if it happened again!
For the next couple of months after I bring the car home, I need to focus on selling my RS replica and my '72 "S" targa. This is a MUST in order to make this move to the TT palletable to my finances. Floating the ownership of all three cars will strain things quite a bit, but I know it will be worth it once everything settles down.
As I wait for the coming week and the trip to pick it up, I am planning my route home so that I can enjoy the "whoosh" of the TT. Needless to say, backroads will be the theme of the day unless it is raining...
Thanks again for your post about the LA Times ad. Without your post, I would not have found this car!
Regards

Jim, congrats once again. I have been at Viperbob's all day (less than 24hrs since I picked the car up) and I must say muffler bypasses *ARE* a must!
Bob (and Adam!) also installed JICs on the car. They ride pretty well so far but I have to get the car balanced and aligned at Custom next Friday.

After Viperbob did my PSS-9 install, I took the car over to Custom Alignment for corner balance/alignment. They did a good job but be aware that Dave is REAL CONSERVATIVE about alignment specs. We practically had to arm wrestle to get him to move off the factory specs and closer to RS specs. I lost the arm wrestle, and wish I had been a bit more forceful.
Have a great ride, you guys. Wish I could join you.

This wouldn't be a TT at Rusnak in TO would it? I saw a speed yellow with yellow wheels there on Friday, but it was in the back (service) lot. Unless it was a TT look-a-like, I never went up close. I figured people wouldn't be happy with finger prints and drool marks on their car. You're right though, the yellow on yellow isn't that great.

Yes Eyal, that would be the beast.
The yellow wheels have got to go. I will likely get those wheels refinished and also keep my Kinesis K58R's.
My RS Replica will get the Kinesis Supercups so it will be as RS as possible...
If you have any other comments on the yellow beast, please PM me. I have been relying on photos and interviews so far. Any more comments from other sets of eyes would be great.
I should be down that way this week to finish the deal. Yippee!

You know Jim, you are going to be required to make a drive over to the Peninsula on Sunday with the new car.....
That is great Jim. Glad it is working out. You might consider the 996TT wheels on the new car. They really compliment the 993TT shape... Oh, and since there are billions of them around they are cheaper than 993TT wheels and they have an extra inch width in the rear... If you come over on Sunday with OldGuy around, we could pop on one side from my car and see how it looks.
