strange clutch feel

Need some input here... I got in my 97tt the other day and depressed the clutch pedal (as I would normally do before starting the car). This time it was VERY difficult to depress--more like my 1967 chevelle SS. Anyway, once the car started the clutch pedal went normal. I've driven a couple of times since then and everything has been fine. Any ideas?

It's not off the power steering pump.
The Brakes and Clutch use a servo assisted hydraulics that uses an electric pump (you can hear this when you put the ignition on when the car has been standing over night) and a hydraulic accumulator.
There is also a warning light on the dash that stays illuminated when it's got low pressure.

Sorry ACEParts, but you're wrong. The brakes run off the electric pump up front and have their own accumulator near the spare tire. The clutch runs off the power steering pump and has an accumulator on top of the slave cylinder above the clutch. The clutch reservoir near the brake master cylinder is a back up system for loss of pressure conditions in the primary power system. You can confirm this by depressurizing the clutch with the engine off, then turn the ignition to run(not start) and let the brake pump pressurize. The clutch will still be high effort using the back up system.

so basically what you guys are saying is there is nothing wrong with my clutch and yes the chevelle is an original SS car, convertible, 4 speed show car with a 454 with dual quads. I've never lined it up against the TT but it sure 'sounds' like it could take most anything...until you hit a corner of course

Anyway, clutch works, brakes work, more importantly can you make my tyres work?
My TT which, i believe like most Porsches has stated pressures of 36/44. This does seem very hard so I tried running them on the road at 32/36 and have discovered that the inside & outside edges are wearing more than the middle. I have now reverted to 36/40. I would also like some advice as what to do on a track day with them as they hit around 45/50 HOT.
Any advice would be welcomed
Thanks
Alan

Ace,
Make sure that the car isn't doing this after a couple of hours or under daily driving conditions. If it sits over the weekend and does it that is normal. The pressure bleeding down in less than 24 hours may be a slave or a master going bad. The slaves are known to have an issue from time to time. Damn things looks like an ABS pump. It is crazy! Also check your fluid levels. With the car not running depress the clutch and keep pumping it until the unit feels like your SS. Then check the reservoirs.
