Default Steering wheel swap etc

Hello Rennlist folks,
I would like to swap out the OE steering wheel, on this 1996 911 / 993 TT, for a 3 spoke.

Also, I have seen several nice looking ones on E-Bay. From a newer " Boxter 996 "
and advised that these wheels will work fine with 993 Turbo's

However, my mechanic, at the dealership that is selling me the car, says No Way any Boxter parts
would ever work on a older 993.

I'm confident some of you 993 people have changed your steering wheels

Please share your thoughts and candid comments

Thank you

There should be no issues 996 or Boxster.

Default steering wheel opinion etc

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to respond with your opinions regarding this steering wheel exchange.
I purchased the wheel on E-Bay and hope it will fit and connect ( air bag ) correctly. ( $ 800.00 ! ouch ! )

By the way is that your Black 993 Turbo pictured to the left of your posting ?
If so great looking car.... looks similar to the 1996 TT I am purchasing !

Regards,

PS. Any thoughts on exhaust upgrades ? I have researched for days and days on You Tube,
listening to the various clips of exhaust sounds from most brands, RSR, Tubi, Fab Speed , Billy Boat and Fister.
However, apparently our Turbo's change / effect the sounds of the conventional ( normally aspirated ) exhaust sounds.
I have narrowed it down to Fab Speed, " Muffler By-Pass Pipes " or Fister ( for Turbo )

The 996 steering wheel is a direct swap. The torx screw for the airbag is different but should come with the airbag you bought.

For the exhaust, I think the best option is Fister II or III.

Yes that is my black 993TT.

You can take a glance at one of my threads for slippery slope ideas.

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...e-updates.html

I forgot to mention visually the nicest 3 spoke is one that comes with a leather air bag too, you can see some shots in my thread too.

The exhaust mod is very individual since most have their own personal taste. You are correct, the turbos siphoned the sound so unfortunately it takes more work to make it sound like a NA car. Also depends how loud you want the car too, the bypasses are def very loud although I'm not a fan of the tone.

Good luck and enjoy the car!

I've installed Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes on both of my turbos and have been extremely happy with the results. As Knight mentioned though, liking a sound (or not) is highly a personal opinion. I've never gotten to hear Fister's turbo setup but if it's anything like his setup for the normally aspirated cars it will be dynamite. Best advice is if you can hear each in person before you decide, do it. Good luck!

Yes, exhaust sound is very personal ! Sure appreciate your comments !
Looking forward to ( hopefully ) speaking to Darin and hearing the Turbo muffler.
