Hi Guys - thanks for all the inquiries. I have been bombarded with e-mails and private messages, which makes me think I will regret selling this car. Regarding price, I would like to keep the price private between me and serious potential buyers. If the person who eventually buys the car wants to post the price that is their prerogative. My first post gives a pretty good idea of where I am at with this. Thanks again guys for all the interest. I will miss this board (not that I can't come visit).

I had other suspension mods done, but the H&Rs alone contributed to its stance. I had also put on the RS Engine and tranny mounts and I believe the rear sway bar was changed also.

Just extend your garage to cover your entire driveway, except for one space to wash your car outside. Then problem solved. You will have more garage space than cars...

These solutions are so simple.

A couple more things about the car - it has a LoJac system installed (GPS theft tracking system) and the stock intercooler was supposedly modified for better heat dissipation. I do not have the reciepts for that but as far as I can see the black paint was stripped from the fins - other than that it looks stock (other than the polar silver paint on the shroud and sides).

I do have a Cargraphic IC that I bought when we thought we would track the car. I will likely sell that separately.

Not really a replacement - I need a daily driver as my wife usually takes our Volvo when the weather is not good or she wants an "easy" commute. My guess is that I will now get to drive the Volvo (which was supposed to be my car anyway) and she will then take the M5 on those rainy or otherwise crummy days.

Thanks Pong - we got the M5 last night and spent this morning detailing it a bit to make it our own. Although the M5 is in very good shape for a car with 64,000 miles on it, it really makes me appreciate how exceptional our 993TT is. One thing I would say about the M5 is that it is a very well done car. Given that it was basically the same price as a comparably equipped 911 of the same vintage (I believe M E39 M5s were about $80 - 85K new), I think BMW gives you a lot more for your money than Porsche (at least at this level). The car is quicker than a NA 911, feels like it could be made to handle as well (and is certainly easier to put near the limit with a lesser driver), and the interior is of an exceptional build quality. After spending this morning with Lexol cleaner and conditioner I can say that this car has the nicest leather I have ever seen in an automobile. We should be heading home later today.

As an aside, it is definitely not close to our 993TT or our 930 in terms of power, acceleration or handling - but of course it is a 4 door sedan.

Congratulations on your new acquisition.

No doubt, the M5, while posting impressive performance numbers, is a complement to, and not a substitute for, a Porsche, and vice versa. These cars do different things extremely well.

If you're driving long distance, or looking for a forgiving daily driver, the M5 is hard to beat.

However, if your driving mood calls for raw power, brutal acceleration, and blistering cornering sensation, then the 993TT wins hands down. We are lucky that we have both cars. That's a tough combination to beat.

If you're looking to mod the M5, I can give you a few suggestions.
