Project RUF
Good morning, I wanted to introduce myself and my car. I have been reading rennlist for nearly 7 years. I had fallen in love with the 993 turbo back in the nineties when it blew past us on the highway. I have been obsessed with the form and design despite the passage of time. However, every time I had a chance to pick one up, I always went with something newer. A number of years ago when I moved to the northeast I met mickfluff on rennlist and almost bought his RUF. Despite a deal that did not work out we remained friends. I got the itch again about a year ago and mickfluff went out of his way to find me this car.
This is is a rennlist car that was owned by lambotex and two other rennlisters before him. The car was immaculate and essentially brand new feel. I have been using for a year now. Daily driven during good weather.
In this thread I will document my upgrades to build this into a RUF turbo R and ask for advice and wisdom. Thanks to this forum for good friends and wisdom.

That's a beauty, I recall when it was for sale and wondering why it was taking so long to be bought up.
Looking forward to your build but have to admit it's already quite stunning as is. Guards Red is one of my hands down favorite in the 993 color choices.

The Ruf's with their 993 CTR body bits, whilst looking cool, have no provenance in the Ruf model hierarchy.
Do the engine that is a nice piece and quite good value now days I think although I'm sure there will be a fair bit of "maintenance " which becomes apparent during the build. The Ruf R suspension is out of date now and PSS10s are the route AFAIK.......Seriously touching that beautiful bodywork would be sacrilege :

Thank you TB993tt. You are correct the current body work is correct and getting an a RUF vin car is not a consideration. I had thought long and hard about just putting on a set of bbs E88 rims or tramont cup 2
But the car was already modified. Has 996 rims and the entire interior was redone in Porsche leather with red stitching and 996 shift and steering. So I decided to visit scosurf and see his car. I was deciding between RUF or a bit of a hot rod.
He was the nicest guy and his car blew my mind. It looked so much more aggressive than stock and screamed 90s supercar. The car looked wider and lower.
So even though I am a big fan of RUF I am not interested in a pedigree car. I just wanted a great looking, great feeling, car that I could enjoy on a daily basis.
And i I started my search for the old 18 wheels and outside bits.

Update
A while back mickfluff was able to not only find me the car but also a set of the 19 RUF wheels in very decent shape. They were not available from the factory. I had Jerry Pelligrino at EPE but then on and balance the car and this is what it looked like. If they did not come out correct I was going to sell them and buy tramont cups
To me this looked so good that I reached out to Mutlu at RUF Germany and Arlin at Rstrada and ordered the bumpers and exhaust. They went on recently and fit perfectly. The shop worked on them and came out perfect.
