Wing grille warped?
Howdy gents,
Took the 993 out over the weekend and noticed the front passenger side of the wing grille (where one of the three tabbed retainers is) was popped up. Pushing it down won't allow it it hold and seems to be tweaking the center. I'm guessing its warped to some extent.
Any thoughts on the best course of action? New one is about $600 in primer, so I'd prefer to try to sort the current one.
maybe a gentle heat gun application?
thanks

Even if you replace it with a new one, it will eventually warp again from the engine heat when parked. From what I've searched, most people reinforce it or just leave it the way it is.
I leave the tail open after I drive the car. (parked in the garage)

There is a reinforcing bar that is used to keep the split grill straight on the 993 - its a U channel designed to go across the tail area, it has a slight curve to match the deck. Reference part number is "Rear Spoiler Reinfrc - Porsche (993-512-777-00) " - $51.15 from Sunset., I glued one in on a clients car a while back, worked like the charm, but it's not specifically designed for the Turbo tail so it will require some investigating to assess. I have having the same issue on my car. and was considering if I could adopt that channel (or possibly find something similar), but wont get to it until this winter.
Let us know what you did if you solve the issue! :-)
Cheers,
Mike

Of the warping or the rod? The rod is glued to a car that I only see once in a while and its buried pretty deep into the lid, but I can ask - think I will see him in the next week or so.
