" EXclamation mark" light on

" EXclamation mark" light on
When I test drive a 96 TT with 47Kmiles yesterday, the big red "exclamation mark" light comes on. What is it for? Is it something I need to be aware?

That light is there to tell you that another indicator just came on. It can be as simple as a low fuel light, or an indication that a seat belt is not on. You need to find out what other light is on. If none are on, then perhaps there is a chronic problem that is being masked by the removal of the indicator bulb.

There is also an exclamation toggle switch on the center console that you can use to turn off the exclamation lamp. I've found this to be quite handy as that big exclamation drives me crazy sometimes.
