Default Modified ECU for sale...

Just saw this and at $550 seems quite a bargain! I have no knowledge of the seller.

Thanks for posting, but this sounds fishy. Maybe it's because my dad never let me swap carbs back and forth and then he and I go out and race each other... And he was in the car business back in the muscle car days... hehehe...

Search in the archives about the bosch part numbers for ECU's. I've asked before and Steve W has posted them before.

Unfortunately, the ecu was sold this afternoon. Hopefully, someone on this board was the lucky buyer.

The part no. on the chip is 993.618.611.00
It was supposed to have been reprogrammed by FVD.

Can someone tell me if this is the correct number for a 97 ecu?

Thanks,
Hal

Hi Hal:

The Porsche part numbers tell you nothing useful,....one must have the Bosch numbers to truly know what the ECU is. This looks something like: 0.261.203.008 and the last three numbers are the significant ones.

If FVD reprogrammed it, its should have their sticker either inside or outside the ECU and an FVD dealer can tell what it is.

It turned out to be a 0 261 204 377 ECU, so it is OK at least as far as being a '97 programmable ECU. The rest of the investigation will have to wait until Hal gets the ECU in his hands....

I think Hal should send it around for investigation.
we could put it in our cars and check for validation.
Yup I think that would be a good Idea.
Hal Can I be second??

OG,

Come on up and you can be the first guinea pig! We can see if your car blows up before we put it in mine!
