After JimBob gave me the confidence to pull
off my engine tray yesterday I noticed 2 little
valve or gates under the motor in the exhaust system.
they have their own openings in the tray itself.
what are those?? diverter valves or what??

The diverter valves are on top of the engine. Are you looking at the O2 sensors? I think there are four of them... two pre cat (one on each side), and two post cat.

I dont know they had their own openings in the
engine tray and they look like exhaust valves or
something. I have no clue they curve from going straight
back to completely facing down through the tray.
I jsut looked at the manuals and I cant find a name
but the both are vents that come right off the exhaust
manifold and right down through the tray. Little curved

I believe those are the valves that vent off unecessary heated air from your heat exchangers when the heater is on.

Princeton is correct Paul. It is part of the heater system.

Heaters? We don't need no stinking heaters in these cars. It is California after all...
