Default whining noise

Hi,

I have a 1996 TT with about 27,000 miles purchased in October. Since the weather has been getting cold I noticed a whining coming from the right rear of the car when I turn the wheel. Its worse when the car is cold and I turn the wheel to the left. . I can hear the same sound if I am sitting still and just turn the wheel back and forth a little. I don't know if this has always been there or I just started noticing it. Sorry for the poor description, but is anyone has any idea's I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks
Rick

Right rear? That's where your power steering pump is located. Check the fluid level (next to the oil-fill cap), to make sure it is not running dry.

Steve,

Thanks alot.
You hit it right on the head. Had my dealership check it out and a little power steering fluid later, no more noise.
Thanks

Rick

Rick,

I just learned about that this last weekend up at Viperbob's, where he showed me a bunch of stuff about my car. Glad to be of some help.
