How can you tell the difference between standard big reds and the GT2 Evo caliper ? Are the piston sizes larger ?

The GT2 Evo caliper is much wider and longer versus the 993 turbo big red to accommodate twice the thickness of a big red pad and to accommodate a 380mm rotor.

I had some time with a 993 RSR3.8 that supposedly had the factory upsized rotors but from what I saw used the pads and calipers from the 993TT. Is the evo that much different? I wish I had it to inspect more closely to verify but IIRC it used only 350mm rotors from the factory. I ask because we are trying to find out the caliper used on the 962 Dauer. Nobody seems to have a part number or info but it looks similar to the 993TT caliper. I suspect it is different but used the same castings.

I would be interested in better pictures, piston sizes and part numbers if anyone knows for sure.

I believe this is only a 250mm rotor which is all that can fit under am 18" wheel.

This is the best picture I have of the front of a factory EVO albeit modified and the calipers and rotors appear to be similar to the RSR.

The factory 993RSR will come with the 993TT big red unless the 380mm is optioned. I am getting a set refurbished shortly so I will post up pics when I can. The only part number that I have for the calipers is 993.351.428.82 and obviously it's a race part that needs to be ordered from Porsche Motorsport.

So the RSR I pictured had the factory upsized rotors and had very few original miles. Calipers looked like big reds so I assumed they were. Just looks more like a 350mm than a 380mm.

Talat any info you have would be appreciated. Especially measurements and piston sizes. I am wondering if it is a different casting or just a machining change.

The reason I question the 380 is my Gt4 has 380 fronts with a low profile caliper that has a much smaller casting height than the Big red type and no way is any 18" fitting over these.

993 RSR sprint configuration were fitted with 350mm front rotors with big reds in a 18"BBS.E28 or E88. The 993 RSR and GT2 EVO endurance configuration came with a 380mm front rotor with a much wider caliper for more pad thickness since its for endurance and fitted with an 18" BBS E28 or E88. Both rotor sizes were floaters.

Also 996/997 RSR with 380mm rotors and mono block callipers like your GT4 runs 18" BBS wheels.
