Lightbulb Today's (11/23) 993TTs in the L.A. Times

I'm only posting this as a public service for those that may be shopping or interested in LA area pricing. I try to type the ads just exactly as they are printed... capitalization, punctuation and all.

'96 911 TURBO, Red/tan * $80,000 * (v#375114) Pp 909-793-9478

'96 911 TURBO, Black, 16K miles! (VinPCX067) 949/515-6200 NEWPORT European

'96 TURBO blk,lthr, mint,ldd 46k frwy mi, garaged! $69k (watatrp) 310-471-1719,pp

'96 TWIN TURBO, Yellow, Xlnt Cond., Xtras, 40Kmi, $72,000 (KDSHARK) Pb (805)428-3206 [this may be wrong... its fairly illegible]

'96 Twin Turbo Silver/Grey Loaded. 15K As new (375131) BH Classic Cars 310-360-6900

Is this of use to anyone? Or am I wasting my time?

Steve - It's useful to me...currently out of town with no access to LA Classifieds. The yellow TT would be interesting but the price is a bit rich given the mileage...

Thanks, again

if you guys are in the market for a car or any higher priced ticket item, use this site:
http://www.setso.com

it sends you emails daily of all the new listings on auction & classified sites based on your criteria. it will comb through all the major sites for you without having to do it daily yourself.

i.e. send me a daily email with only the new listings for all 96-99 911s, etc...

have fun!

I'm going to test out that "setso.com" thingee to see about picking up a Canon digital SLR... a 10D or perhaps the 300D. Thanks for that tip!

Some of the prices out there are amazing right now. The dreaded eBay must have 15 993TTs for sale. Here's a 1996 in Polar Silver with 43,000 miles that the guy lowered the reserve to $53K: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...egory=10156and

I'm in San Antonio and am eyeing that particular car. I haven't seen it yet and the seller has a verbal offer already so I guess I'm backup in case that buyer flakes out. I've got an 86 944 turbo and an 01 Boxster S (at least one of which will have to go to make room if I'm lucky enough to get a 993TT). Seems like a decent price to me - is there anything specific you guys would recommend I watch out for? I've looked over the list on 993tt.com already. Only thing that surprises me about this listed car is the fact that the clutch already had to be replaced. Too many hard launches maybe?

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated.

A new clutch at 43K is no big deal. This car sounds like it may have a master cylinder issue though and the mechanics have not figured it out yet. His comment about Pentosin leaking into the trunk is the same symptom my car had before the master clylinder went out and took the hydraulic pump with it. This is a big ticket item - $2-3K as the pump is located inside the engine compartment and very difficult to get at.

Even with that issue, at $53K this car appears very well priced.

Dwayne - I was in contact with the same guy about that car. I called the local Porshce dealership and talked to ther service manager and he said that everything seemed in good order with the car. He has already sold the car. I think we missed an opportunity to get a good car at a great price.

But I'm still looking.

Use cars.com. It picks up newspaper classifieds.
