Hey dannycf - Nope, the series 993 production did not mount wheel weights externally on Cup II wheels, the 18" Turbo Twists or the 17" Sport wheels. The (Zuffenhausen) factories tire/wheel marriage area was very much just-in-time for the life of the 993 production years. Sure,, Toyota Production Management would change this starting with the 996/986 vehicles.
Wheel weights affixed to the exterior, greatly alters the alloy wheels aesthetic -
With care, remove the wheel weights using 3M automotive glue remover or other. Using a soft wooden tongue depressor (Walgreens) for muscle so as not to damage the Cup II's finish. Problem solved, no?
For pricing contrast. In 2007 a full set of OEM Cup II 7"/9" et55 with original finish (had mild finish scratches in the centers) cost $600. plus a 2 hour round / road trip out to Road Atlanta for pickup. With elbow grease, a little compound & a polymer/polish sealer did the trick. Ten years on . . . try finding an original Cup II set now? Offered For Sale at $1100. (edit $950.00) seems pretty fair. GLWS.
