I use Sparco gloves because of the thicker leather palm area. I prefer thicker steering wheel and since it's cheaper to buy a pair of gloves than to get a thick suede MOMO wheel. As for the driving shoes, I do have a pair of Sparco Racing size 42 euro(9-9 1/2) that I wore ONCE !! Useless if you ask me, any taker? Half price of the new one !!

 

No gloves at a DE ?!!! Funny, the DEs and Time Trials I've gone to Require gloves, any gloves, as long as they're natural fiber or leather. Guess it's a club-by-club thing

I have used leather driving gloves at DE's for years now because my hands get hot spots by the second day from wrestling with the wheel. Griot's Garage occasionally sells a pair named after Jim Clark, I think. They are wonderful and sell out whenever they are offered. They are paper thin with great wheel feel, but are sturdy enough to last for many events. Downside is price at about $80.

 

Hmm... Maybe the newer ones are better? Mine are about 15 years old.

Ray's onto something...

I wear Otomix martial arts/wrestling shoes at DEs. They are exactly the same as driving shoes (methinks), except they are NOT fire retardant.

They are very light, very flexible, slim enough to fit between the pedals, and have that firm, thin sole that gives a great feel for the pedals. Cost me about $45

Now that they are trendy, it seems, they cost more like $75, so...no great deal over some of the cheaper driving shoes
