Question Short Shifter for C4

I just got back from the dearlership, and I was told that the short shifter for the C4 and C2 are different. But they can't tell me what the or where is the difference !! Well, I bought a short shifter for my C4 from Schatz Motorsports, and was my understanding that both C4 and C2 uses the SAME short Shifter.
Help !!!
Thanks

There is no short shifter for the C4 but the factory C2 short shifter can be installed with slight modifications. Check with Schatz Motorsport on that. Mike has done a few.

You have to dimple the pan that covers the 'drive shaft' under the car to get clearance on the C4. Mike Schatz did mine - need to heat the metal and hammer it out.

Well, since I live in Texas, I don't think Mike can do it for me then. Can you be more specific about it? Or maybe you are already, I just need to open it up to see for myself?

There is a pan that rund down the center of the car in a C4. With the short shifter, you will hit this pan. The location of the interference should be obvious and you will need to make that pan bulge out about an inch.

What Mike did was heat the pan with a torch then set it on 2x4's to support it and hammer the interference point until you get enough clearance. That is all the detail I have, but I am sure Mike could fill in the rest if needed. You can get the number from their web site.

I use to have a '91 C4 and was told that there is no short shift kit. Well, there is!! It is made by RUF and it worked great. The only item that gets replaced is the shifter handle. It was longer and the shifter sat taller yet it shortened the shift throws. Now I have a '95 993 with a short shifter. It shifts short but I am used to the taller RUF shifter. Does anyone know if I could put on a different shifter cover which would raise the height of the shift ****?
