I need an opinion guys. I have a C4S with a protomotive twin turbo stage II engine. When I got my car, it had no badge on the back of the turbo spoiler. I put the normal Carrera C4S badge on rather than the turbo.

Did I do right or wrong? Should I have put the turbo badge on? It's kind of fun being a sleeper!

I'd put the c4s badge back on. It's cool when people think they are faster than you, then surprise the **** out of them. I know a couple guys that have early 911's with 3.2 or 3.6 and they left the 2.0,2.2,2.4 badge on.

Hi Phil,

I do have the C4S badge on. I don't even have a turbo badge.

talking bout badges...Does anyone know where I can get a 911S badge. I saw this badge on a black 993 here on Rennlist, but forgot the thread. I believe the car was for sale or something.

I just thought it was kinda neat.

Badges...we don't need no stinkin' badges. LOL
Oops, Tom beat me to it.

I once saw a really ratty looking 993 at the dealer service dept with a red "R" slapped on it complete with faux centerlocks. Nice.

Twin turbo.....stage 'II'!!

Heck, I think you should put TWO turbo badges on the back! Then go ahead and put a couple on each side for those that don't get a nice tail view! Awesome baby!

Seriously, I think you could go either way.

P.S. ZAMIRZ great story.

Hey guys,

In Germany they do the opposite and de-badge the powerful cars so that there are loads of top coupes and saloons with no badges.

Must be more fun!

Cheers,

David

I've always been amused with the 'sleepers' or 'q-ships.' I saw some guy on the M5 board who rebadged his M5 with a 528 or 530 badge. Not sure if he also replaced the rear bumper with a regular one to hide the exhaust tips . . . but I'm sure a fair number of folks have been surprised when his base model 5 series blows off the line

P.S. Phatbut -- Max has created a '911S' badge. You can ask him what parts he ordered for it. It looks nice.

I can understand taking a badge off to make for a cleaner look, but to rebadge your car with anything other than the actual model designation is a little ridiculous.

I agree Reandy, since my car started life as C4S I decided to put the C$S logo on the car. I don't have the original tail anyway. I bought the badge from ebay. If I could figure out how to add pics to my posts, I would send a couple. I can't ewven figure out how to add pics to my profile.

Hey Old Guy, My membership number is 030809-3872. But I still can't figure out how to add the pics. I've been to the upload photo part and uploaded the pics, but son't know where to go from there. BTW, am I older than you? I bought my first Porsche a 62 Karmen Coupe in 1966.

Thanks for you help.

Steve Yes you are older than me, in 66 I wanted a corvette,I did
not become sophisticated till 70 when I saw my first 911!Did not
get mine till 33 years later! Email Jen and she'll put your rennlist
member icon up, and then maybe all those pic things will come
up in your profile. I had the same problem My user name did not
match my membership, and I could not upload. So I emailed her
and she took care of everything!

Default Underbadging/misbadging cars in Europe...

There was an article about this in an Excellence issue >a year ago--looked for it but I must have tossed the issue--it was in the same issue with an article on dropping a 928 engine into a VW Golf. Anyway, as I recall, they said that removing the badges or understating the model was prevalent in Europe because execs who got expensive cars as perks drew heat from lower-paid employees, and often the employees took out their wrath on the vehicle--so the execs disguised the cars as lower-priced models. Maybe some of our European rennlisters can confirm or refute this.
