OK, that's what I get for replying to a post when I should be in bed.
I take back my comments re "replies from morons with a mental age and IQ of 15" - and extend it to the poster! Sorry, that's the way I feel. Stuff like this belongs on the "Off Topic" list - or the "Audiworld" site (check THEIR "Off Topic" posts for absolute infantile/puberty posts).
Take care!

Ray,
The dashboard computer stalk on the left side of my steering column is indeed loose (jiggly) and I plan to see if I can tighten it up once (if?) I get my car back from the body shop. So the post was both serious and not.

Ray,
"Off topic"?????
The computer stalk in my car (which is, last I checked, a 993) is loose, and I thought I'd ask my new friends here at the 993 section of Rennlist if they could offer some advice. You even offered some helpful advice of your own.
Frankly the homorous title was unavoidable...But off-topic?
I don't believe you are correct.
Your periodic comments bashing Democrats? Definitely off-topic.

Resurrecting this thread on a serious note. My computer stalk suffered from the same drooping issue. It was completely functional but just kind of flopped in place.
I was thinking either a fastener came loose or the assembly cracked off some how. I finally decided to get in to it today which requires removing the wheel and was prepared with several adhesives if I came across a broken housing of some sort.
Fortunately, one of the retention allen screws had just worked itself undone and was lying in the bottom of the switch shroud. The computer stalk is unique in the way it attaches to the switch assembly with two fasteners like that and I guess from repeated use the screw can work itself loose. When it comes out all the way you get the flopping. All in all a simple repair that didn't cost anything to implement. How often does that happen with these cars.

Three Wheelin'
Thanks to this thread (and the steering wheel removal thread(s)) I was able to quickly fix my loose onboard computer stalk. Disconnected the negative cable to the car's battery terminal, loosened the T30 torx at 9 and 3, removed the airbag and connectors within, painted a white mark at the steering wheel nut and shaft, removed the wheel using a 24mm long socket, removed the four screws on the steering wheel shroud, lifted the top one off first (off the rubber guides, maybe didn't need to) then found an opening (through the lower shroud) where to insert an allen key into the stalk bolt that had loosened about half way, tightened said bolt, then re-assembled in reverse order. The steering wheel nut requires 30ft lb of torque when tightening.
Thanks again, Rennlist.
