Good, then maybe we'll stop seeing people mucking around with our 993's for financial reasons and we can all go back to just enjoying/driving/working on them as enthusiasts instead of automotive curators.

I hear that Singer is toying with building cars based on the 993 since they can't get good 964 tubs with matching engines easily enough. So you may start seeing them disappear just like the 964's. I know that they are building a number off of 964 targa's since they are easier to come by. A friend of mine sold 3 of them recently to them and he has a number of 993's they were inquiring about.

Did 964 production numbers for the US every get sorted out, thought there where a fair amount of coupes delivered, like thousands in the US.

Have no ideal how many Singers get built in a year, but the test driver, Seamus Tafe, is said to spend at least a week per car chasing noises, tweaking door seals and obsessing over fit. That would be less than 50 per year.

Singer makes very few cars, I don't think enough to move the market

I own two 993s, 96 turbo and 97 C2, if I had to sell all toys, these would be the last 2 to go, after the house, the wife and the kids they are just superb cars... I don't care what $ they fetch, they are just superb (and heavily modded)

Actually there are far less 964 coupes than 993's by thousands. The "preferred" years 92 through 94 are extremely low.

1992.....655 all C2/C4 coupes inc tips
1993.....469 all C2/C4 coupes inc tips
1994.....160 all C2's coupes inc tips C4's were wide body only numbering 267

if you go back to the early 964's
1989.....1057 all C4's
1990......1257 all C2/C4 coupes inc tips
1991......1548 all C2/C4 coupes inc tips

This doesn't include the RSA or other models like targas and cabs with cabs far outweighing the coupes and targas.

Add up the number of cars dissected, totaled, salvage titles long nose conversions and whatever else you can think of they are a rare bird.

This is what happened to the 914 so many made but so few left.

The problem is they don't make sports cars or cars like these anymore.

It doesn't take a lot to mI've the market. Just the fact that they use 964s changes the perception. I believe they have made less than 100 Singers, and have about that on order.

Singer isn't the only one making backdates. Start counting all the 964's that have been tracked to death, crashed and gone and dismantled for parts. There was a while when Blackbyrd on Pelican was parting out at least a couple a week. Sometimes he would have the parts of a half dozen cars for sale at one time.

I know of countless number of 964's cut up and totaled myself. I also cut one up to make my track car.

If you consider the numbers imported to the US and all the cars that are no longer I would guesstimate that the numbers I posted are at least down to <half.

There were many 993's I can say this about as well but not on the scale of the 964 There were also more 993's made for the US and far more 993's were well maintained because their values did not drop to the levels of the 964 at the bottom of their market. Finding a 964 in good condition is not an easy task and those that have them are keeping them.

If you own any of these cars IMO we should feel lucky to have what we have.

There were a lot more of both made in ROW configuration than US spec imported. With the 25 year law now approaching it is easier to import these so it may change things. But the price adds up quickly to do so.

yes

my other point was that Singer has many ROW choices if he's chopping it up as a donor car, so it does not affect US pool or prices ...

You need a clean, accident, free tub with matching number useable engine to be a candidate?

There are a lot for sale but that covers the globe and if you look closely there are a lot of cabs in the lower price range. No doubt some of the coupes in that price range are suspect candidates. Then a good portion start out as being more expensive then the cost of a good example here. The rest skyrocket with RS's and other rarities. If you boil it down I don't see that market being all that much better.

You still have to find cars with their original certifications affixed and in good condition. The good ones aren't cheap over there either they drive their cars harder more often then we do on average. Then you have to add Export fees, Shipping, US Customs and Handling, Delivery, US taxes, Duty, Bond plus insurance. It can add up quickly but if you're building a Singer I guess you can **** the extra away.

There is still a lot of interest in these cars. I went to a 1500 car, Cars and Coffee today with the most amazing collection of everything imaginable in multiples. can't tell you how many thumbs up I got from people of all ages despite what else was there.
