Default The 993 is not the most desirable aircooled 911 anymore!

We read it in "everywhere" that the 993 is the most sought after and the most desirable aircooled 911s around. That probably used to be true for many years.
But is that still true? Here at the 993 forum ofcourse! The definition of disirable and sought after must be translated in to the prices people are prepared to pay for aircooled 911s.
And if we look at the prices the 993 in all its forms are no longer the most expensive aircooled 911s.

The 993s are generally more expensive than the G model and the 964s but almost any longhood 911 are more expensive than a 993 nowadays, especially the S and RS models!

So my question is: Is it still correct to refer to the 993 as the most desirable 911 or must we 993 fans hand over the flag to the longhoods?

Does it really matter?

I bought my car because I wanted it, not be trendy or to have the #1 most desirable 911 model.
I'm thinking the 964's are going to be the next model everyone jumps on.

I had a 86 Carrera and now a 96 Carrera. The 993 is the last iteration of the original 911 with a modern electrical system and all the mechanical advancements of newer cars without the brute force electronics that make the newer cars expensive to own in the long run. For this reason, it is the sweet-spot for me.

I'll bite. I agree. I think 964s have taken that spot.

So just to add here...all in the last 6 months

RM Auction 993 GT2 $2.4M So tell me what 964 sold for more than $2.4M

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...or-2-4-million

RM Auction 993 Turbo Cab $1.4M

http://www.rmsothebys.com/pa17/paris...riolet/1701537

RM Auction 993 Turbo S $418K

http://www.rmsothebys.com/az17/arizo...urbo-s/1529823

Barret Jackson 993 Turbo Silver $220K

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...3-TURBO-202163

This is just to name a few 993s that are way above and beyond any 964 sold recently.

Not expressing an opinion on "most desirable" per se however put up comparable MY94 vs 95 MT coupes; say silver/black, 60k miles, similiar options, no accident history and good documentation. Price at $50k and for every "993 ring" you'll get 3x "964 rings."

Railmaster couldn't be more wrong. Clearly the 924 is the most desirable.

Do any of us really care after so many years of the "what's my car worth, testing the market threads". The market has peeked ... get over it and enjoy your car otherwise just sell and move on

Not that I care because I did not purchase my 993s as investments, but I suspect the last vintage of the air-cooled Porsches will always hold a special place in the hearts of the aficionados and over the long run in the marketplace as well.

I didn't read anything in "everywhere" but I am looking for a 914.
