From what I see, Ask prices for 993 Targas are running 10-20% above C2 coupes.

A lot of lines in the water but who's nibbling at those prices?

FWIW, I'd love to own a Targa but I'm not about to pay for the most expensive house in that neighborhood.

Asking prices mean nothing.

The only price that matters, is the price the car sells for

Asking price is the ONLY data point available. A previous poster asked about pricing of the Targas relative to the C2 Coupes and whether they were discounted similarly to the Cabs.

I posted my general observation about ASK prices.

Somebody tried to question my ability to gauge this delta.

I posted data supporting my position.

If you have recent actual selling prices of Targas, then please post them. It would certainly be more useful than Asks. But in the absence of that data, Ask is all that is available.

This thread is dedicated to discussing cars For Sale. That's what I'm doing.

Selling my '97 Cabriolet. Here's the listing here on Rennlist. Car is in excellent condition:

https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...cabriolet.html

Bought a 2016 Boxster Spyder and don't have the garage space. Will consider reasonable offers.

Thanks!

Interesting this '95 didn't sell (top bid $52,600). 25k miles, Black on black, coupe, 6 speed and two owners. Are '95s not as valuable because it doesn't have the VARIORAM? I thought this was a $60k car all day.

I am relatively new to 993s but have been climbing the learning curve as fast as possible and it's my assumption that you are correct: 1995s, pre Varioram, are not worth the same as 1996-98s.

Love to hear thoughts of others.

It's a personal preference thing. For me, two identical cars in every way, I'd pay a bit more for a 95. I'm on my 4th 993, 2WD, AWD, skinny, and WB. They're all very nice but wouldn't have anything but an early 95 C2. For me these are the pros:
-no immobilizer
-uncluttered engine bay
-one O2 sensor
-no CEL for SAI
-basket handle

cons:
-no remote fob but that's an easy fix (T lock)
-a few HP less than Varioram but not something you'll feel

I think eBay is iffy. One day a seemingly great car doesn't sell, the next week, it sells for over what you would think.

+1. Ace10 ... Nice assembly of trending "ask" offers for our 993 Targa brethren ...

A resent thread/post referred to the Targa as "the most expensive house in the neighborhood". So true with the neu 993 Targa II style roof and associated service costs $$$.

I've not had to service the roof on the C2S coupe once, knock on wood !

Without knowing what the reserve price was, it's just not possible to say why bidding ended here. Maybe the reserve was $70k, it's all speculation with proper numbers.

I recently sold a 96 and bought a 95. There's not "that" much difference in the price between the years. I honestly think the polarizing basket handle is the thing that makes people like or dislike the earlier cars. For me, the emission BS with the 96 was the straw that broke the camels back and going to the simpler ODB1 system was just the right thing to do for me. Apart from the too-hard race suspension which will be getting swapped out later this week, the cars feel very similar to each other as far as I can tell.

I hated the immobilizer on my '97 and '98.
If I get another 993, I'll be looking for a '95 without the drive block. Not wild about the basket handle but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
