Default Carbon RS Seats

[QUOTE=MarinS4;14507094]Hard backs do very little for driver support. I never understood the strong desire for them.

This is the style of seat you want for sprited driving. You will not be disappointed! Just a few works of caution. One be sure they fit your body type. If I recall the recaro versions were narrow in shoulder and waist. Two they do take some new techniques for entry and exit. Initially they were a PITA , now it's a non issue.[/QUOTE

I use a three point technique with one hand on the door sill to hoist my *** in and out of the RS seat.

The RS & Speedster seats are in between width compared to the standard Recaro SPG and the XL version. At 6' and 200lb whilst I fit the SPG and whilst it's great for racing, I do find it too tight for road use, whereas in my RS I have driven from the UK to the 'Ring and back without an issue.

Photos show the new seat belt hole bezel (9m version below) and a close up detail of the finish on the raw carbon seat back. The seats will be available with this or a clear lacquered & polished polished finish.

Thanks Colin

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Are the seats ready for prime time? If so, Maybe a group buy if the price is right?

Will you offer a wider seat for big boned individuals?

Lovely looking work Colin,

Apologies for the off topic but do you still do rolling road remaps?

Cheers,

David

Sorry for the tardy updates, rest assured that whilst we are well underway with the seat program, there has been a little mission creep in the form of billet CNC machined alloy subframes, as below. These will become an integral part of the FIA approval for the seat, hence over the last few weeks between myself and the shop we have been doing the iterative design work to make a part that both looks "right", is lighter than the original and is strong enough for the impact sled test. This is one of the prototype pair being cut on the CNC now to send off with the seat for testing in December. The seat rails will be interchangeable with the factory part.

Prices coming soon including group buy, initially the choice will be for black cloth/black leather and plain back/gloss lacquered back. The seat rails will be sold separately, as will Recaro runners.

You need to see Wayne, he's moved to his new place up in Lancashire so it's now logistically difficult for us to book customers in.

Received some great news today that the 9mRS seat with 9m billet side mounts have both passed the FIA sled testing procedure.
For the record, the tests are:
1. 20g forward sled test impact
2. 15g side impact
3. 10g rear impact

I will be hopefully posting photos of a pair of trimmed seats early next week, then soon after a price breakdown with options and be ready to take orders.

Here are the black anodised version of the 9m billet seat mounts which we used for testing:
