key fob conversion
I have a 1996 993. The factory switchblade key really sucks...my Audi keys are much more solid and upscale. Where can I buy this key fob conversion thing and is it hard to do? Thanks

You can buy the kit at www.carnewal.com. Click on the "electronics" section.
The DIY section of www.p-car.com will tell you how to do it.

The parts are available from any Porsche dealer for under $35. The Porsche lighted key head now has a color crest, instead of the silver crest shown in the DIY. The stock incandescent bulb in the key head is very dim. The conversion to LED is also easy & worthwhile.

Instructions for the LED conversion are at the end of the DYI for the switchblade conversion at www.p-car.com. I did it as well. Works great.

Sorry for the delay. I've been out of the country. As said, follow the DIY on Robin Sun's P-car.com for the LED conversion. Note that the LED has a "+" and a "-" side & if reversed will not light. I also found it helpful to cut a wire width sized notch in the side of the push button. Last, the suggested Radio Shack LED was not as bright as I wanted. I found a more suitable LED & bought a bag of them. If you'd like one, send me an email/PM w/your mailing address. No charge.
