The difference is that no one will buy a piece of aluminum with drilled holes if you were selling it. What David is selling is something that you can not make. I'm sure the screws in your drilled piece of aluminum don't have "911" molded into them. You pay a premium for getting something that is pre-made and every detail is thought of, and it looks like something professional and not a garage fix. The pad keeper looks better than what Porsche themselves put in the car. In fact, it looks like the car was made with it. Yes, it's a piece of plastic, but it does what it does better than any thing else, and cleans the look of the engine bay better than any piece of aluminum strip that we can make at home.

In case any of you are still on the fence, spoke to Dave today. Supply of the 993 version of the pad keeper, allocated for the first group buy #268 is almost exhausted. There is uncertainty if the suppliers will honor his original costs. So if and when another group by is offered, I would expect a slight increase in price. Dave is the kind of guy, that it is still honoring the group buy Price, even though the original commitment has been ful-filled.
You can contact him through email, PM, or Facebook.

The far left agreed with me. It's the far right one that couldn't get a grasp of what it's supposed to do. However, I had no issues with any of the fasteners that came supplied with the PadKeeper.

Installed mine today and far left was a challenge. I decided it was to long, shaved off an 1/8th and that worked for me.

Before and after, a nice clean look but a little pricey. I decided to clean the ISV before installing because you will have to remove the PK to get to the back worm clamp so I thought best to clean now.

Try emailing Dave at cmrdce@aol.com. Based on his reputation he should be able to help you out.
