Yup. The Cheech and Chong smoke show was largely the result of firing the car up on a cold 10 degree morning. The car is a 1995 non varioram by the way. I miss that car.

It was pricey to do, but I am completely satisfied with the result. The car was fun before, but now it is really a blast to drive.

I have seen some 993's smoke on startup until the SAI Valve was replaced. Smoke went away

Did you manage to retain the hydraulic lifters? My understanding was that they needed solid lifters. There's a company over here that will grind RS style cams that will work with the original lifters.

I'm sure they will lift hp and torque. It would be interesting to know what the increase is if you're able to share.

I'm going to pull the trigger on the RSRs.

Like FlatSix911 I have the RSR's with Fabspeed 100 Cell Cats and the sound is just perfect for me. Fister's do sound good too. At the end of the day it's a personal thing I guess.

The Fisters sound great but take the sound in a different direction to where I want to go.

What I love about the air cooled noise is the multi layered wall of sound, with treble and mid range from the chains and fan, and bass from the engine and exhaust. I'm really after tweaking the bass a bit to add some more character akin to the earlier air cooled cars.

From what you just said I think you'll be happy with the RSR's.

I ran RSRs for a long time; but, I found that they tend to drone when cruising between about 2500 and 3000 rpms. The sound became annoying over a period of time. I switched to Fister III, they are a lot louder but the sound is pleasant.
