I have experience with DD. Long time ago, but I distinctly liked it. Both of them, as a matter of fact.

Hard to measure the net results - negative or positive. I go by lab results in my oil, and would rather put in a good oil that gives me good lab results than these sort of additives.

It also depends on what you are trying to do - which is? Take a crummy oil and make it better?

Cheers,

Mike

It seems to me that controlling the concentration of the additive would be very difficult out of a consumer product bottle where when added to the oil by the oil distributor, Exon, Shell, etc quantitative controls are used. Any dilution greater than 1:100 is hard to control outside of a lab. ZDDP is at concentrations much smaller than this. It seems service life is rather long on the 993 engine anyway.

I recall when that or a similar product was introduced, I did a rough cost/benefit analysis and determined that it was more cost effective to buy oil with the proper attributes.

This was my initial thought. I am not planning on using it.
Thanks for all of the replies.

The only time I use it is an a new rebuild-too much of the stuff is not good over the long haul.
And agree that it's best to spend the money for the correct oil and otherwise skip the additives.
